1. Single Purpose

QRKitty is designed with a single, focused purpose: to scan QR codes from any area of the screen and generate custom QR codes directly within your browser.

2. Data We Collect (And What We Don't)

QRKitty operates locally on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your browsing data, scan history, or generated QR contents.

The extension processes images and canvas data entirely offline within your browser using the local BarcodeDetector API and jsQR.

3. How We Use Extension Permissions

To provide our features, QRKitty requests specific browser permissions. Here is exactly why they are needed:

  • `activeTab` & `scripting`: Required to capture a screenshot and inject the area-selection overlay (Snip & Scan) into the current tab. This only occurs in direct response to your explicit action (clicking the extension or using Alt+Shift+S).
  • `contextMenus`: Allows us to add helpful right-click options like 'Scan QR Code in this Image' or 'Generate QR for selection'.
  • `storage`: Used to save your recent scan and generation history locally on your machine, and to store your Pro license key status. This data is never synced to external servers.
  • `offscreen`: Used to run complex QR decoding algorithms without blocking your main browser thread.
  • `downloads`: Used strictly to allow you to download the QR codes you generate as PNG files.

    • 4. Host Permissions & Licensing

    QRKitty includes a Pro tier that requires a one-time payment. To validate your license key, the extension requests host permission for `https://live.dodopayments.com/*`.

    This connection is used exclusively for license activation and periodic validation. Only your license key is sent to this endpoint. No browsing data, personal information, or QR code contents are ever transmitted.

    5. Third-Party Sharing

    We certify that:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality.
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

    We may update this policy occasionally to reflect new features or permission changes. The 'Last Updated' date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
